Empowering Autism Families, One Tail Wag at a Time

In late 2022, Ashley Brunk, pregnant with her third child, faced a challenging and deeply personal journey with her daughter Savannah, whose elopements had become increasingly concerning. As her behaviors intensified, and conventional safety measures proved insufficient, the Brunk family found themselves in a rural area with limited access to support and resources.

Living in a remote part of a state forest, the Brunks encountered numerous obstacles in their quest to ensure Savannah’s safety. With no viable options for tracking and response, they embarked on a mission to find a solution that would provide both immediate and long-term support for their daughter.

Despite facing multiple rejections from canine service providers, the Brunks remained undeterred in their pursuit of a solution. Their determination led them to a breeder on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where they found a ray of hope in the form of a puppy named Goose. This brave decision marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the Brunk family and the inception of the Savannah and Goose Foundation.

After securing Goose, the family dedicated themselves to his training, initiating a crowdfunding mission to raise the necessary funds. Their unwavering commitment and the outpouring of support from their community enabled them to provide Goose with the training needed to become a service dog with tracking ability.

Ashley’s experience with Savannah’s challenges inspired her to establish the Savannah and Goose Foundation, with a vision to extend the same support and hope to other autism families facing similar struggles. The Foundation’s mission is rooted in a deep commitment to empowering autism families, providing access to service dogs with tracking ability, and offering comprehensive support to the community as a whole.

Ashley’s journey has ignited a passion to guide families through the uncertainties that often accompany the suspicion of autism in a child, ensuring that no family feels alone or lost in their pursuit of support and understanding.

The Savannah and Goose Foundation is a testament to the power of determination, compassion, and the unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of autism families. It is a story of hope, resilience, and the boundless love that drives us to create a brighter future for all.
